PNR stands for Passenger Name Record. Every time you book a train ticket through IRCTC, the railway counter, or an authorized agent, the system generates a unique 10-digit PNR number against your booking.
The PNR holds:
- Train number and name
- Date of journey
- Boarding station and destination
- Class booked (1A/2A/3A/SL/CC/EC)
- Number of passengers
- Current booking status (CNF, RAC, WL)
- Reservation chart status
- Refund eligibility
You can find your PNR printed on the ticket itself, in the IRCTC booking confirmation SMS, or in the email receipt.
