Failed booking + deducted money is common — the refund is automatic.
Step-by-step:
- Check booking status: IRCTC → My Account → Booked Tickets. If no booking shows, the booking failed.
- Check Failed Transactions: IRCTC → My Account → My Transactions → Failed Transactions. The transaction will be listed with refund status.
- Wait 5-7 working days: Most refunds auto-process via the original payment method.
- Bank statement check: After 7 days, the credit will reflect in bank/UPI.
- Still no refund? Email care@irctc.co.in with PNR / transaction ID, OR call +91-755-6610661 / 4090600.
Pro tip: Take a screenshot of the failed transaction page immediately for reference.
