Tatkal is Indian Railways' last-minute premium booking scheme.

Booking timings (one day before journey):

• 10:00 AM — AC classes (1A, 2A, 3A, CC, EC)
• 11:00 AM — Non-AC (Sleeper, 2S, FC)

Charges:

• Tatkal charge is added on top of normal fare (max 30% of fare).
• Non-refundable on cancellation (only base fare refundable, partial).

Other rules:

• Maximum 4 passengers per Tatkal PNR.
• Photo ID required for at least one passenger.
• Tatkal goes on TQWL if seats are full.

Pro tips:

• Be logged in to IRCTC 1-2 minutes early.
• Keep payment method ready (UPI fastest).
• Master the Tatkal autofill in IRCTC app.
