Platform Ticket is for non-passengers entering the platform.
Use cases:
- Drop off / pick up a passenger
- Help elderly/disabled traveler board
- Visit a station / observe trains
Cost: ₹10-30 (varies by station; metros are higher)
Validity: 2 hours from time of issue.
Where to buy:
- Station counter
- UTS mobile app (digital, paperless)
- Some kiosks at large stations
Limitations:
- Cannot board any train.
- Caught on a train without valid ticket = penalty (3x ticket fare or fine).
- Cannot exit at a different station.
Note: Many small stations have free platform access (no ticket needed). Major junctions and metros require platform ticket.
