Split PNR = single PNR is split into two during chart preparation.
When it happens:
- Group booking (e.g., 4 passengers).
- After chart prep, 2 confirmed and 2 still WL.
What happens:
- The original PNR keeps the confirmed passengers.
- A new auto-cancelled PNR is created for the WL passengers (refund issued).
- Confirmed passengers travel as a group on the original PNR.
To avoid:
- Book each pair separately if you absolutely must travel together.
- Or book early to maximize confirmation chance.
Split only happens for e-tickets (counter tickets stay together).
