What if I lose my train ticket before journey?

For e-tickets: print again from IRCTC My Bookings — no issue. For counter tickets: visit reservation office, pay duplicate ticket fee (₹50 II/SL, ₹100 AC), get a duplicate. Carry valid ID.

For e-tickets (IRCTC online):

Not a problem at all:

  1. Login to IRCTC.
  2. My Account → My Bookings.
  3. Print or save PDF of the ticket.
  4. Show on phone or printed at TTE check.

There is no "lost" e-ticket — it's always available digitally.

For counter (paper) tickets:

  1. Visit the issuing reservation office (or any major reservation counter).
  2. Apply for a duplicate ticket before the train departs.
  3. Pay duplicate fee:

- II / Sleeper: ₹50 - 1A / 2A / 3A / CC / EC: ₹100

  1. Carry valid photo ID.
  2. Duplicate ticket issued — valid for travel.

During journey (if you lost it on train):

  • Inform TTE immediately.
  • Show alternative proof (booking SMS, ID).
  • TTE may allow continued travel based on records.

Refund on duplicate ticket: No refund on duplicate fee.
