Train ticket cancellation refund rules

Cancellation > 48 hrs before departure: flat charge based on class. 12-48 hrs: 25% deduction. 4-12 hrs: 50%. Inside 4 hrs: minimal/no refund. WL/RAC have lower charges than CNF.

Cancellation charges depend on time before departure and ticket status.

Confirmed (CNF) tickets:

48+ hours before: flat charge (₹240 for 1A/EC, ₹200 for 2A/FC, ₹180 for 3A/CC/3E, ₹120 for SL, ₹60 for 2S)
12-48 hours: 25% of fare (min flat charge above)
4-12 hours: 50% of fare (min flat charge above)
< 4 hours / after departure: no refund (e-tickets), 50% (counter, with TDR)

RAC / WL tickets:

Up to 30 minutes before chart preparation: ₹60 + GST
After chart preparation: needs TDR filing

E-ticket auto-cancellation: WL e-tickets that don't clear by chart preparation are auto-cancelled with full refund (minus small fee).

Tatkal: Tatkal extra charge is non-refundable on confirmed Tatkal cancellation.
