Auto Upgrade is a free upgrade to a higher class.
How it works:
- During IRCTC booking, you can opt-in to "Consider for Auto Upgrade".
- If seats are available in the next-higher class at chart preparation, you get a free upgrade.
- E.g., 3A → 2A → 1A, or SL → 3A.
Rules:
- No extra charge for the upgrade.
- Original booking stays as fallback.
- Order: SL → 3A → 2A → 1A.
- Only at chart preparation.
To opt-in: IRCTC booking page → tick "Auto Upgrade" before payment.
Probability is low (5-15%) but free, so always opt-in.
