Ticket transfer is heavily restricted — to prevent ticket scalping.
Allowed transfers:
- To immediate family: parents, spouse, children, brother, sister
- For government employees travelling on duty (with documentation)
- For NCC cadets / students in groups (with letter)
How to transfer:
- Visit the booking station's reservation office ≥ 24 hours before departure.
- Carry original photo ID of both the original and new passenger.
- Submit a written request stating the relationship.
- Submit relationship proof if asked (Aadhaar showing same address, etc.).
- The clerk modifies the ticket on the spot.
Not allowed:
- Transfer to friends, distant relatives, colleagues.
- Transfer between unknown parties.
- Online transfer (must be in person).
